Prime Video will explore the world of near-death experiences in its latest drama project.
The Amazon-owned streamer is developing a thriller called The Orpheus Projectcentered on a group of young doctors who conduct dangerous experiments on themselves, on the edge between life and death. The project, by authors Dee Johnson (Travel companions) and Paul Keables (Nashville), is based on an Israeli series titled Metim Lerega that were circulating on the Hot platform of that country.
Johnson and Keables to Executive Produce Marc Resteghini (Upcoming Prime Video Series) Young Sherlock) and Alon Aranya of Paper Plane Productions (Your Honor, Tehran). The production is entrusted to Amazon MGM Studios.
The Orpheus Project will focus on “a group of young doctors who save lives by day and conduct dangerous experiments on themselves by night,” the show's synopsis reads. “While these experiments help them solve complex medical cases, they come at a dark cost, placing them at the center of a twisted conspiracy that ends in death itself.”
Johnson and Keables have previously worked together on NashvilleNat Geo's scripted series Mars AND Boss at Starz. Johnson served as an executive producer and writer on Showtime's Emmy-nominated series Travel companions and then there's Tessa Thompson, led by He and she on Netflix; his credits also include emergency room AND Land of the SouthShe is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and Johnson Shapiro.
Keables gained his first recognition as a writer on Boss; he also wrote episodes of FX The tension and Netflix Turn outHe is represented by CAA, Epicenter and Jackoway Austen.
The Israeli series was created by Roni Yaddor, Ruth Weinberg, Gal Zaid and Michal Aviram and produced by Endemol Shine Israel.
