The Black Girls Rock! Awards, returning after a five-year hiatus, have announced a new taping date for the 2024 ceremony.
The awards show, hosted by Oscar-nominated actress Danielle Brooks, will be taped live at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta on Friday, November 1, and aired at a later date on Lifetime. It was originally scheduled for June 27.
This year's registration “coincides with a convergence of history and progress, unfolding during a historic election season. As the nation is poised to potentially elect its first female president [Kamala Harris]“Black women are not only participants in this crucial moment, they are on the front lines,” the press release reads.
The honorees, announced earlier this year, include Tracee Ellis Ross who received the Star Power Award; Gina Prince-Bythewood who received the Shot Caller Award; Fantasia who received the Black Girl Magic Award; Aurora James who received the Boss Up Award; Stephanie Mills who received the Living Legend Award; Maya Penn who received the Young, Gifted and Black Award; and Latham Thomas who received the Community Change Agent Award.

Awards makes its highly anticipated return to television on Lifetime, we are thrilled to reignite this inspiring platform on a new network in the vibrant city of Atlanta, our new cultural epicenter for the celebration,” Beverly Bond, CEO and founder of Black Girls Rock!, previously shared in a statement. “In a world where Black women’s voices are often marginalized, our resurgence is a bold statement of presence, bolder, more resilient and more dedicated than ever to uplifting Black women and girls around the world.”
The Black Girls Rock! Awards aired on BET from 2010 to 2019, before moving to Lifetime this year.
