Further information about specific episodes and characters is under wraps, as you would expect from a dystopian series that is always secret. Season 7 is currently filming and will return to Netflix in 2025.

Here's the synopsis: “Charlie Brooker's dark, satirical anthology series will return in 2025 with six new episodes, including a sequel to the sci-fi adventure USS Callister.”

The idea for the highly anticipated sequel to “USS Callister” had been brewing for a long time, Brooker recently explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “And it’s partly because of the way it ends,” he said. “The first one ends like you could just continue that story and follow where they’re going now. … There were various iterations that it went through, various versions that we wanted to do and that we’d been talking about on and off for a number of years. But there’s a lot of schedules that need to be worked out, and then the pandemic got in the way. It was something that felt like it wasn’t going to happen, and so I was happy when it did.”

At the time, no cast had been confirmed. But Brooker teased: “We're continuing the story where we left off. And there's some new characters as well. There's new stuff to do with where they've ended up now versus where they were.”

Produced by Broke & Bones, Black Mirror Season seven is created by writer Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker with Jessica Rhoades and Annabel Jones. The series is licensed by Banijay Rights.
