Two years after his Reliable sources After the show was canceled by CNN, Brian Stelter rejoined the media network.
“I will be returning to CNN in a completely new role as chief media analyst,” the journalist announced in an edition of the network's program Reliable sources newsletter on Tuesday. “I’ll be on the air, developing digital content and leading this newsletter.” Stelter noted that his start date will be Sept. 9.
Stelter left CNN in August 2022 during the tumultuous tenure of former CEO Chris Licht, whose brief run at the network lasted 13 months. Now under the leadership of former The New York Times and BBC boss Mark Thompson, the cable broadcaster has shaken up its coverage again, including with a new organisational structure and an overhaul of its text-based digital news site.
After Stelter left the network, CNN’s Oliver Darcy took over the Reliable Sources newsletter, regularly reporting on the media industry and its parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery. Darcy left CNN in August to launch his own paid newsletter startup, Status, which covers media industry news.
More will come.
