Lauren Lapkus and Carrie Coon Star in First Trailer for Parenting Comedy Another happy day.
Gravitas Ventures will release writer-director Nora Fiffer’s film on all major digital platforms on October 1. Marilyn Dodds Frank, Jean Elie, Hanna Dworkin, Alex Weisman and Tim Kazurinsky round out the cast of the film, which centers on artist and new mother Joanna (Lapkus), who struggles to adjust to her changing life when she forms an unlikely friendship with her estranged aunt Miriam (Dodds Frank).
“I’m not, like, a mom,” Lapkus explains in the trailer. “I just… I have a kid, you know?” She later admits, “You have no idea how much I need family right now.”
Along with writing and directing Another happy dayFiffer produces alongside Quinn Nicholson.
Fiffer said in a statement that this is “the movie I wish I had seen before I became a mother.” She added that the film's team was “seriously interested in creating a work environment that is accessible to parents, caregivers and anyone who values a healthy work environment. We provided childcare for the cast and crew and committed to working eight-hour days. We developed these priorities because we were making a film about the postpartum experience. But regardless of the story, we believe in taking care of our production team.”
Lapkus noted, “This project has been incredibly meaningful to me as an actress, a mother, and a longtime fan of Nora Fiffer’s expansive talent. This is a unique and familiar story, and it’s been an incredible experience to be able to contribute to such an important conversation.”
