Charli XCX is sharing her reaction to Bowen Yang's recent impression on her during the Saturday night live season 50 premiere.
The British singer, who sparked the “Brat Summer” phenomenon with her release Snotlout album in June, told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM channel on Wednesday that she was “very impressed” with the comedian's performance.
“I love Bowen and I honestly think he did a great job,” Charli XCX said. “I was actually very impressed with the texture of the hair. I thought it was a really nice wig. It was nice. It was nice.”
When Stern asked her if she was bothered at all by the SNL sketch, the “Apple” singer responded, “Oh, no, no, no. I think SNL it's iconic and Troye [Sivan] and I had a feeling it was going to happen, so we were very excited about it.
Charli XCX is currently on her Sweat Tour co-headlining with Sivan, who released his third studio album, Something to give each otherlast year.
The sketch featured Yang playing the “360” singer for a fake talk show called The talk show with Charli XCX. Sarah Sherman played Sivan. During the segment, which highlighted the album's bright green aesthetic, the Evil the actor attempted to explain what “Brat” means by describing things as “brat or nat.” For example, “Amy Adams in Night time bitch: brat,” but “Indictment against Eric Adams: nat.”
Charli XCX made her SNL debut as a musical guest in 2014, before returning to perform in 2022.
