Chris Rock will direct and star in 'Misty Green' for Neon

Chris Rock is trying to take on Hollywood with his new feature film Misty green.

Rock is set to direct and star in the film which debuts next week at the American Film Market. Neon International handles foreign rights, while CAA Media Finance is responsible for domestic rights.

Misty green is based on an original screenplay by Rock and centers on a talented actress whose career has been stifled by her vices. Things change when a director (Rock) offers her a tailor-made part that could finally revitalize her path, although the situation is complicated by their turbulent past.

Casting is underway for the film which has Rock and Peter Rice as producers, along with James Lopez for MACRO Film Studios and Tommy Oliver for Confluential Films. Executive producers are Charles D. King for MACRO Film Studios and Codie Elaine Oliver for Confluential Films.

Rock has directed previous films such as Head of State (2003), I think I love my wife (2007) e The top five (2014). His recent projects include his 2023 Netflix special Chris Rock: selective outrageduring which he discussed being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars ceremony the year before. He has also recently acted in films Rustin AND Amsterdam and on the FX series Fargo.

Rock is represented by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Yorn Levine.
