Kim Porter's four children have spoken out, calling claims that their late mother wrote a memoir “simply false.”
Christian (King) Combs and twins D'Lila and Jessie Combs, whom Porter shares with Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Quincy Brown, whom he shares with Albert Joseph Brown (the R&B singer known as Al B. Sure!), released a statement on social media Tuesday night, more than a week after Diddy's arrest.
“We have seen so many false and hurtful rumors circulating about the relationship between our parents, Kim Porter and Sean Combs, and the tragic passing of our mother, that we feel the need to speak out,” they wrote.
THE Daily Post reported that a book, titled KIM'S LOST WORDS: A Journey for Justice, on the Other Sidewas reportedly saved to a hard drive by Porter and sent to Los Angeles record producer Chris Todd, who later released it on September 6, using the pseudonym Jamal T. Millwood. However, Porter's children now maintain that he never wrote an autobiography.
“Claims that our mother wrote a book are simply false,” they wrote in their statement. “She did not, and anyone claiming to have a manuscript is misrepresenting themselves. Additionally, please understand that any so-called 'friend' speaking on behalf of our mother or her family is not a friend, nor do they have her best interests at heart.”
Brown also took to Instagram on Monday to call for an investigation into Porter’s 2018 death, arguing that the model-turned-actress’s alleged knowledge of Combs’s alleged sex trafficking led to his death.
But her children say that’s far from the truth. “Our lives were shattered when we lost our mother,” their statement continues. “She was our world and nothing has been the same since her death. While it has been incredibly difficult to accept that she was taken from us too soon, the cause of her death has long been established. There was no foul play. Grief is a lifelong process and we ask everyone to respect our request for peace as we continue to live with her loss every day.”
“We are deeply saddened that the world has made a spectacle of what was the most tragic event of our lives. Our mother should be remembered for the beautiful, strong, kind and loving woman that she was. Her memory should not be tainted by horrific conspiracy theories,” the statement concluded. “We ask everyone to respect our mother, Kim Porter, and cherish her legacy so that she may rest in peace. She deserves it. We love and miss you, Mom. Quincy, Christian, Jessie and D'Lila.”
Porter was found dead in her home in Toluca Lake, California, in 2018 after days of flu-like symptoms. After initially listing her cause of death as “delayed,” the medical examiner later changed it to lobar pneumonia.
