Dylan O'Brien Recalls His 'Really Bad' Audition for Frozen 2

Dylan O'Brien is thinking back to his audition for Frozen 2which didn't necessarily go as planned.

THE Saturday night The actor recently made an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyerswhere the host asked him about his failed audition for the 2019 animated sequel, which starred Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel as sisters Anna and Elsa, respectively.

O'Brien said he didn't go into the audition with high hopes of getting the role “because I knew I probably wouldn't get it.” The actor didn't reveal which character he auditioned for.

“They’re looking for multi-talented, multi-faceted people who can act and sing,” he told Seth Meyers of the musical film. “And, to be honest, I probably haven’t checked either.”

THE Teenage Wolf The former student admitted that he “can’t sing,” but decided to audition because he doesn’t “always feel like a real actor.” However, Meyers wondered how long it took the casting director to realize that singing wasn’t one of O’Brien’s core talents.

“This poor woman,” the actor said. “I remember actually — this is a specific detail — she asked me, painfully, if I could get to the chorus because she needed to see if I had a certain range.” O’Brien admitted that he was “swimming a little bit in the first verse,” but eventually “went higher,” at the woman’s request, and “it really hurt.”

“I knew it. She knew it, too. All right,” he joked, but Meyers asked in response, “Did she know it, too?” You did I know?”

“I think so, because when he said, 'Okay, okay'… He said two 'okays.' I'll never forget that,” The labyrinth the actor recalled. “And then he said, 'Thanks for coming. I think we could probably use a little bit more of a singer,' and I was already nodding, going, 'Yeah, I know.' I was like, 'Thanks for having me.'”

O'Brien added that overall the audition was a positive experience. “I honestly just remember it fondly,” he said, before jokingly telling Meyers, “And then I'm glad that's what they chose to ask me.”

“We wanted you to have closure. Don't you see that, Dylan?” the host joked, to which the actor responded, “It made me feel comfortable, actually. I mean it!”
