While Vice President Harris is looking to change her title to President, she has already been named an icon Ebony.
The magazine pays tribute to the Democrat at its annual Power 100 awards on November 17, naming her Icon of the Year.
“As the daughter of parents active during the civil rights movement, I have long been inspired by heroes like Thurgood Marshall – the same heroes who graced the pages of Ebony – I am humbled and honored to be recognized as the 2024 Ebony Icon of the Year,” Vice President Kamala Harris said in a statement.
Usher was named Global Visionary of the Year; joins honorees including Cynthia Erivo, of whom Evil debuts later this month and is honored with Pathbreaker of the Year; and Oscar winner Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who will be honored with a People's Choice Award. Civil rights scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw will receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award.
“After more than thirty years as an entertainer, I am honored to continually be recognized in monumental ways,” said Usher. “This award isn't just for me, it's for the culture we've built together. Thanks to Ebony for this honor.”
