Emilia Pérez will receive the Vanguard Award at the Palm Springs Film Festival

Netflix's Emily Perez will receive the Vanguard Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival, it was announced Wednesday.

According to the Palm Springs International Film Awards, the Vanguard Award is “a collective honor distinguishing the cast and director of a film in recognition of their collective work on an exceptional film project.” The award will be presented to director Jacques Audiard and actors Karla Sofia Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez and Edgar Ramírez.

Emilia Perez is one of the biggest cinematic successes of this year,” festival president Nachhattar Singh Chandi said in a statement. “This powerful film from visionary director Jacques Audiard is driven by the exceptional performances of Karla Sofia Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez , Adriana Paz and Edgar Ramírez. The film began its awards run at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Jury Prize and its lead actresses shared the award for Best Actress. It is our honor to celebrate the director and the cast of Emily Perez with the Vanguard Award for this achievement in film.

Previous recipients of the Vanguard Award have been winners of the Academy Award for Best Picture Green book AND The shape of wateras well as the nominees for best film Belfast, The assassins of the Flower Moon, The The Earth, Little Miss Sunshine, The Fabelmans AND The trial of the Chicago 7.

The film's awards ceremony will take place on January 3, 2025 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, while the festival will take place from January 2 to 13, 2025.
