Ewan McGregor ready for Newport Beach Film Fest Honor, live podcast

Ewan McGregorthe veteran Scottish actor who recently earned some of the best reviews of his 30-year career for his performance at the center of the Paramount+ limited series A gentleman in Moscowof which he also served as executive producer, was chosen for the Newport Beach Film Festival's TV Performance of the Year award.

McGregor, 53, will be celebrated at an event starting Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 5:30 pm PT, at the Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach. To begin, he will meet with yours truly for a retrospective conversation about his career which will be recorded for later release as an episode of The Hollywood journalist'S Prize chat podcasts. Then, the festival will give him his prize.

“The Newport Beach Film Festival could not be more honored to present this award to Ewan McGregor for his legendary career,” Gregg Schwenkthe CEO and executive director of NBFF said in a statement. “He is a true powerhouse who has made his mark not only on the audiences who appreciate his incredible range of projects, but on the industry as a whole.”

McGregor first rose to fame as a star in the '95s Trainspottingand then achieved stardom playing Obi-Wan Kenobi in the second Star Wars trilogy (1999-2005), and has further distinguished himself in numerous films (e.g. Moulin Rouge!2003 Big fish2010s The ghost writer2012 The impossible) and TV shows (won an Emmy for 2021 limited series Halston and Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards for the 2023 limited series Fargo).

A gentleman in Moscowreleased from March 29 to May 17, it is an adaptation of Towels Love'2016 novel. In it, McGregor plays Count Alexander Ilyich Rostov, an aristocrat who, after returning to Russia from Paris after the October Revolution, is sentenced to house arrest by a Bolshevik court and spends decades in a hotel in the attic.

The 25th NBFF will be held October 17-24, 2024. Pietro Sarsgaard will be celebrated with the Film Performance of the Year award for his work September 5th — and will also record a live episode of the Prize chat podcast – October 23rd.
