Harvey Weinstein's demise was like 'God's vengeance'

Marlon Wayans said he should sue Harvey Weinstein for stealing his family's movie ideas, namely the Scary movie franchise, but that the eventual downfall of the infamous producer was perceived as “God's revenge”.

Scary movie It began as a 2000 horror-comedy film written by Wayans and his brother Shawn, directed by his brother Keenan, and produced by Harvey Weinstein's Miramax. The film later spawned four more films

During an appearance on Shay Shay's Club On Wednesday, Wayans said that Miramax gave his family a “crappy” deal for the first installment, which ultimately led to the downfall of their relationship as the sequels progressed; at the time of Scary Movie 3Miramax hired the Zucker brothers to direct the film based on the Wayans brothers' ideas. On Wednesday, Wayans said the company did this without their knowledge.

“Us [went] come on, we made our money. White chicks he created another classic. Little man made another classic. We do our thing,” Wayans said, but noted that he should sue Weinstein and his company for stealing their ideas.

Scary Movie 4 AND Scary Movie 5made without the Wayans' involvement, had the worst of the franchise. “You can't do the Wayans' thing without the Wayans,” he said. “You can try, but you're going to lose a lot of money because what we do is special. We have 200 years of comedy between me, Shawn, Keenan, Damon, Kim. We have a lot of years of excellence in what we do. You can't just put anyone in there.”

Wayans also said that Harvey Weinstein’s eventual demise following his 2020 conviction on multiple rape and sexual assault charges — which in part gave rise to the #MeToo movement — felt like “God’s vengeance.”

“Sometimes you don't have to do anything because God will do it all: God's vengeance,” Wayans said. “When God comes for you, you have to trust God. Don't fight back, vengeance is mine. They took Miramax, his company… Then they got the Weinstein Co. and then all this stuff started with the rape allegations and they took that company too.”

She added: “I always say that they didn't just rape and molest women, they raped [n-words] also. They harassed us in those businesses. They were terrible people.”
