Charlie faces a mental health crisis as he and Nick navigate their unlikely best friendship-turned-romance in the official trailer for season 3 of Netflix's queer drama Heart stopperdropped on Tuesday.
“Charlie, I’m really worried about you,” Joe Locke’s Nick says at one point, as relationship and identity drama abound in the teaser for the third season of the British coming-of-age series. “I hate feeling like this. I don’t know what to do now,” Charlie (played by Kit Connor) replies in another scene, as his mental health issues, first hinted at in season two, become a major theme for the new season.
Their friends Tara (Corinna Brown), Darcy (Kizzy Edgell), Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) also show their angst at becoming young adults, just as young love, sex and college ambitions enter their lives.
The season 3 trailer also introduces Bridgerton Bridge star Jonathan Bailey makes a cameo appearance as Jack Maddox, the celebrity Charlie is in love with.
Heart stopper, Netflix’s adaptation of Alice Oseman’s graphic novel about a pair of teenagers who fall in love at school quickly became a word-of-mouth hit for the streamer when it premiered in April 2022.
The stolen glances and furtive smiles Charlie and Nick exchanged in the first two seasons turn into a kiss on the rugby pitch, as revealed in the season three trailer, even though the two boys still struggle to put their feelings for each other into words at their all-boys primary school in the UK.
Heart stopper Season 3 will debut on Netflix on October 3.
