Heidi Klum reveals this year's jaw-dropping Halloween costume

Heidi Klum brought her A-game to Halloween once again, this year turning into ET for her long-awaited costume reveal.

The star hosted her 23rd annual Halloween party in New York on Thursday, where she revealed the look on the carpet. Klum channeled a straight scene from Steven Spielberg's 1982 sci-fi classic ET the extraterrestrialdressed as ET in disguise with hat and blonde wig; she appeared alongside her husband Tom Kaulitz, who was also transformed into the more traditional ET

Klum has been teasing the costume on her social media platforms throughout the day as she got ready, and a featured video on her Instagram shows Klum's face blended with ET's neck, with a winking head perched atop hers.

Klum's over-the-top costumes have become an October 31st tradition, in recent years she's appeared as a peacock, a lifelike worm, Princess Fiona of Shrek and Jessica Rabbit, all with the assistance of heavy prosthetics and often hours spent in the makeup chair. She previously teased on Instagram: “You'll never guess what this year has in store.”

In a recent conversation with PeopleTHE America is talented the judge revealed he had been working on this year's costume for months, with time for molds, prosthetics and accessories.

“There's a lot to do because I wanted to be so spectacular that it's not something I can put together overnight,” he said. “It takes a long time. It takes a lot of planning. And then when I do the reveal, I want to do a special reveal because I know I have so many fans, and those particular Halloween fans are people who also love to dress up and make up amazing things.

Halloween queen Janelle Monáe also appeared as ET this year, revealing her take on the iconic character on Wednesday.

Klum's Halloween party, presented by Butterfinger, Mattel and Prime Video at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York, featured DJ sets from Questlove and Gottmik & Violet.
