Jennie Garth, star of Beverly Hills, 90210I actually didn't like coming back to The CW restart years later.
The actress, who reprised her role as Kelly Taylor in 90210which ran from 2008 to 2013, shared her regrets about participating in the remake during a recent panel at '90s Con in Florida. “I wish I hadn't. No offense to them,” she said, via People.
“The producer was a friend of a friend, and I remember he came into my living room, sat me down, [billed it as] this chance of a lifetime. He asked me to do it and I couldn't say no at that moment,” Garth added. “But people were very kind and I wished him well.”
Garth, Shannen Doherty and Tori Spelling were the only original actors to return for 90210which starred Shenae Grimes-Beech and AnnaLynne McCord and followed the wealthy kids at West Beverly Hills High School. However, Beverly Hills, 90210 Former actor Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris and Ian Ziering also joined Garth on the panel and gave their thoughts on the reboot.
“I never wanted [do it]”, Carteris admitted. “I was so shocked that they were doing a new show. I was like, it's like they want this so much that you're going to try to reinvent it over and over again?”
Green added: “No offense, to me it was like: We did 10 years of that show and it was like, OK, done.”
Beverly Hills, 90210Created by Darren Star and aired for 10 seasons from 1990 to 2000, it followed a group of friends living in Beverly Hills as they transition from high school to college to adulthood. The show also starred Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Joe E. Tata, Carol Potter, James Eckhouse, and Tiffani Thiessen.
Although most of the original cast did not reprise their roles in 90210They later reunited for Fox BH90210 in 2019, in which they played enhanced versions of themselves in a fictionalized drama.
“It felt like a full circle, being together as adults, having our kids, being able to work together,” Carteris recalled. “I thought it was probably one of the most significant moments of my life.”
