Jennifer Hudson has her hands full. Between recordings of the third season of The Jennifer Hudson Show (which premiered just yesterday), raising a 15-year-old son, working on new music, and accepting awards left and right, the EGOT winner has found time to pursue one of her biggest passions: helping animals.
In its latest venture, Hudson is teaming up with Dawn dish soap for a commercial that highlights the brand’s 45 years of work with International Bird Rescue. The global conservation organization is the world’s leading authority on bird rehabilitation and relies exclusively on Dawn to clean up and help save wildlife affected by oil spills.
The campaign made sense on every level, starting with Hudson's love of wildlife. She jokes, “People say I treat my animals better than I treat people… and that might be true!” The multi-hyphenate artist is the proud owner of a hairless cat named Macavity, who loves to accompany her mother to work at The Jennifer Hudson ShowHe just adopted another cat named Popcorn.
Beyond that, Hudson simply loves having the essentials that make her home a cozy place: “If Dawn soap isn’t on my kitchen table, honey, that’s not my home,” she tells THR. And now that her son has started cooking, the singer has been busy doing the dishes. Her other secret trick? Using Dawn dish soap to clean her jewelry. “I’m passionate about my son, I’m passionate about my animals, and I’m passionate about my jewelry shining.” Basically, this campaign checks every box.
For a limited time, shoppers can visit dawnducks.com to download a $1 off Dawn Platinum EZ-Squeeze coupon, and in return, Dawn will donate $1 to International Bird Rescue, up to $100,000.
As for what else she has in the works at the moment, the thing closest to her heart is, of course, the third season of her daytime talk show: “I'm coming back, and I'm really excited about it… I want everyone to choose joy this season.”
Hudson also has new music on the way, her first-ever holiday album set for release on October 18 (with a Target-exclusive CD available for pre-order now). But most importantly, she’s focusing on being a mom. “My life is full and I’m blessed.”
