Jon Bernthal and Jamie Lee Curtis have been named Outstanding Guest Actor and Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards for their roles as Mikey and Donna Berzatto, respectively, on the FX series The bear.
Judy Reyes and Michael Cyril Creighton presented the Guest Actor Award. Bernthal, who was not in attendance, was nominated along with Matthew Broderick (Only murders in the building, Ryan Gosling (Saturday night live, NBC), Christopher Lloyd (Tricks, HBO/Max), Bob Odenkirk (The bear, FX) and Will Poulter (The bear, (visual effects).
Chemistry Lessons stars Brie Larson and Courtney McBroom presented the award to Curtis, who was nominated alongside Olivia Colman (The bear, Special Effects), Kaitlin Olson (Tricks, HBO/Max), Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Only murders in the building, Hulu), Maya Rudolph (Saturday night live, NBC) and Kristen Wiig (Saturday night live, (NBC)
“I've helped people help people, and I think that's really the strength of The bear“, Curtis said in his acceptance speech. “Being the source of someone's pain is really hard, and yet to see these groups of people come together and work it out is amazing to me at this point in my life.”
Curtis said The Hollywood Reporter In a previous interview, she talked about how difficult it was for her to keep her guest-starring role on the comedy a secret.
“I'm a mass promotion weapon, a person who is really good at getting the f**king word out,” she shared. “I kept my mouth shut properly, like everyone else did. That's the power of it. I'm all for promotion, but if something has to be kept secret for people to find out on their own, I'm going to turn that phone off for the rest of my life.”
