Kerry Washington's Unprisoned canceled after season two

Without prison star Kerry Washington says the Hulu series was canceled after season two.

“Ladies and gentlemen, that's all Without prison. This beautiful show that we have put so much of our heart and soul into will unfortunately not return for a third season,” Washington said. X, previously Twitter and Instagram Friday.

“But I wanted you to hear it from me because while we're super disappointed, we're also crazy deeply grateful,” she added.

Washington and Delroy Lindo co-starred Not imprisoneda father-daughter comedy-drama from Hulu based on the life of creator Tracy McMillan.

Without prison draws from McMillan's lived experience growing up in the foster care system as his father, Harold, ultimately spent a total of 37 years in prison.

Washington played the role of Paige, a McMillan-inspired mother dealing with abandonment issues stemming from her father, Edwin (Delroy Lindo), being locked up and she being raised for a time by his girlfriend Nadine (Brenda Strong ) who, according to Paige, was anything but a mother.

Washington expressed his thanks to supporters of the Hulu series, including fans of the show, in his social media post.

“Thank you to ABCS, Hulu and Onyx for giving us a creative home. And most importantly, we are grateful to ALL OF YOU – for watching, laughing, crying, screaming, dancing, rolling your eyes, clapping (and everything in between) with us every episode,” he wrote.
