The Dutton family civil war in Yellowstone an open war breaks out in the latest trailer for the final five episodes of the season.
“I can't do this anymore,” the anxious daughter of a cattle rancher, Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, says at one point in the trailer. “Well, you'll have to, honey. Or we'll lose this place,” ranch hand Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) warns her as the Paramount Network drama makes a long-awaited return after the first five episodes wrapped in January 2023.
Within the embittered Dutton family, shifting alliances, unsolved murders, and open wounds spark bitter clashes, as Montana ranchers face threats from a growing city, an Indian reservation, and America's first national park.
“This war has just begun,” says Kevin Costner, who won't be returning after exiting the Yellowstone ranch as John Dutton III, and yet appears in the teaser with a clip that likely describes his character. In a major cast hiatus, Costner left the show after the season five hiatus Yellowstone partly to focus on his Horizon film saga.
Facing off against Beth Dutton is Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley, who uncomfortably follows in his patriarch father's footsteps and warns his sister as he throws down the gauntlet: “If you destroy me, you destroy yourself.”
There's a lot to play with. “Old lions die in the jaws of younger lions. And you are the youngest lion,” warns Dawn Olivieri, who plays Sarah Atwood, Jamie Dutton's love interest.
The series from co-creators Taylor Sheridan and John Linson returns on Sunday, November 10.
