Kevin Hart’s vegan fast-food chain, Hart House, has closed all of its locations after just two years.
“To our team, our guests, and the community who helped us make the change we all wanted. Goodbye Hartfelt for now as we begin a new chapter,” the restaurant wrote on its official Instagram Tuesday.
Hart House had four locations in Los Angeles County, including Westchester, Monrovia, University Park, and Hollywood. The menu included plant-based burgers, “chicken” sandwiches and nuggets, salads, tater tots, smoothies, and more.
“The response to the product has been incredible and we thank our dedicated team, our customers and our community partners for helping to make the change we all wanted happen and for their unwavering support of Hart House,” CEO Andy Hooper shared in a statement to Los Angeles Eater.
Hart said The Hollywood Reporter in August 2022, before the plant-based restaurant chain opened, that he wanted to “give people a plant-based option” with Hart House after noticing a lack of vegan options in the fast food world. The actor and comedian previously revealed in 2020 that he had adopted a mostly plant-based diet.
“If I could give people a place where they have the option of being located right in the middle of where McDonald's, Chick-fil-A and Burger King are [are]people might see a Hart House and say, 'Today I'm going plant-based,'” Hart added at the time.
The reason for the closures has not been made public. DAY reached out to Hart's rep for comment.
