Actor and media entrepreneur Luti Fagbenle (Maxx, Robyn Hood), the younger brother of actor OT Fagbenle (The Handmaid's Tale) has launched the Osun Group television production company with offices in the UK and US. Producer Sheila Nortley (Netflix's Harlan Coben series) Stay close and hit the drama Supacell) will lead the company's television slate as head of fiction and executive producer, under a partnership agreement.
She will also continue her work as an independent producer.
“Strategically positioned to have a significant impact on the global content market, Osun is dedicated to producing high-quality television programming with compelling narratives that resonate across the world, in both scripted and unscripted markets,” the company said Wednesday, promising to “deliver innovative content.”
Fagbenle said, “Our vision for Osun is to provide the best home for diverse talent to tell their stories, offering the infrastructure and culturally attuned leadership needed to realize their most ambitious projects. Sheila's exceptional track record and dedication to diverse storytelling aligns perfectly with our vision. Following the success of the hit series Supacellthe timing couldn't be better.”
Nortley added: “It’s about collaboration and vision. In an industry that has become so risk-averse, the biggest risk is not evolving. We’re excited to raise the bar by championing a spectrum of stories, voices and perspectives and creating great TV.”
The new company is designed to continue the legacy of Fagbenle's Luti Media which produced series such as Maxx (Channel 4, Hulu) and Blue Therapy (Amazon, BET+, E4). Luti Media will continue to focus on branded content and music video production.
“Osun also has the ability to fund development and secure production financing through venture capital, extensive brand relationships and global partners,” the company said.
