“M3GAN 2.0” visits New York during horror-filled Blumhouse panel

On Thursday, mega-producer Jason Blum and actress Allison Williams were at New York Comic Con to give fans a sneak peek at Blumhouse and Atomic Monster's long-awaited sequel M3GAN 2.0with fans also privy to exclusive looks and new details on four of the studio's other upcoming titles.

As part of its second consecutive presentation at the East Coast convention, the hour-long panel was hosted by Nicole Byer and moderated by horror director Mike Flanagan, who helped tease new footage and details on Leigh Whannell's action. The event included the world premiere of the trailer for The Wolf ManWhannell's latest modern monster tale, following 2020's well-received one The invisible man. During the The woman in the courtyard During the presentation, the audience was able to get a first look at Jaume Collet-Serra's film, which tells of a mysterious woman dressed in a black veil who terrorizes a family living on a rural farm.

BlumFest attendees listened too Drip star Meghann Fahy and director Christopher Landon who break down the film — about a single mother who receives threatening iPhone AirDrops during a first date — along with a preview of the film courtesy of new teaser footage. Williams and Blum completed the film portion of the panel presentation with a question-and-answer session accompanied by a special message from M3GANwho “apologised” for not being able to attend the conference.

Some of the panel moved from movies to video games to show Fear the spotlightBlumhouse's first video game. Set in an abandoned school where students died under mysterious circumstances, Fear the spotlight follows girls as they wander around campus at night. An independently made title, the game features a retro visual aesthetic reminiscent of classic PlayStation hits from the '90s silent Hill AND Resident Evil.

M3GAN 2.0

Plot details regarding M3GAN 2.0 were nonexistent, with Williams and Blum mostly recalling the original film's viral success in early 2023. However, Byer confirmed with the filmmakers that “the original cast and filmmakers are back” for the sequel.

Williams commented that the first film was a learning experience, which allowed the sequel to be “bigger” and “broader”.

“Animatronics are, as we know, temperamental,” Williams joked, adding that M3GAN herself is “a diva.” “Sometimes she is brought onto the set. The atmosphere changes in the room. It gets a lot scarier. It was fun to do it the second time. “Okay, so we know how this is achieved. We know how to do it.' We can have a little more fun. And make it bigger and more expansive, without revealing too much.”

Williams confirmed that production has begun M3GAN 2.0 it is wrapped.

Then came a short video message recorded by M3GAN. “Hello New York Comic Con! Do you miss me? I'm sorry I couldn't be there, because I'm rocking on set for my new killer movie M3GAN 2.0. I have been updated. See you nerds in June. M3GAN also astutely confirmed that the film's title is officially worded as “colon-oh” and not simply “M3GAN2.”

The sequel will be released on June 27, 2025, with the return of the survivors played by Williams and Violet McGraw.
