Margo Martindale Joins JonBenet Ramsey Series at Paramount+

Paramount+’s JonBenét Ramsey limited series continues to attract a high-profile cast.

The latest addition to the show is three-time Emmy winner Margo Martindale (Americans, justified). She will recur as Nedra, the mother of Patsy Ramsey (Melissa McCarthy) and grandmother of JonBenét. The character is described as “tough, outspoken, forthright and unafraid to speak her mind.”

McCarthy and Clive Owen play Patsy and John Ramsey, JonBenét's parents. The cast also includes Emily Mitchell as JonBenét, Garrett Hedlund, Alison Pill, Owen Teague, Clifton Collins Jr., Rory Cochrane, Chris Bauer, Angus Caldwell, Shea Whigham, Will Patton, Jaime Ray Newman and Josh Stamberg.

The series is expected to begin production soon in Calgary. Richard LaGravenese (Uninterrupted, behind the candelabra) is the showrunner and is writing the series with Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach, who sold the project to producers MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. Anne Sewitsky (Presumed innocent) will direct four of the eight episodes.

The series will follow the Ramsey family before and after the (still unsolved) murder of JonBenét “as they navigate the painful loss of a child while dealing with intense public scrutiny in a media frenzy that has captivated an entire nation,” the show's description reads. “At the heart of the series is the story of Patsy and John Ramsey, exploring the unbreakable partnership of these two complex people, as husband and wife, as mother and father, who had committed to their children's narrative of a perfect and privileged life only to have it shattered one Christmas night in 1996.”

LaGravense, Query and Wallach serve as executive producers alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari and David Hutkin of 101 Studios, McCarthy and Sewitsky.
