There's a role that all the biggest stars want to play Law and Order: Special Victims Unitaccording to star and executive producer Mariska Hargitay.
The actress appeared in Late Night with Seth Meyers in front of UVS season 26 premieres Thursday. While speaking with the host, he revealed that A-listers who want to guest star on the long-running show all want to pretend to be dead.
“All the famous people, you know what they want? Being a corpse,” he told Seth Meyers. “It's so weird.”
Hargitay recalled recently speaking with a “great supermodel,” whom she wouldn't name but who noted she was “one of the greats,” who only wanted to portray a dead person, despite the UVS writers who have a more elaborate role for her.
“I found out he loved my show. So I said, “Oh my God,” and I went to the writers and said, “Can he be on the show?” And she said she wanted to be a corpse, but then I said, 'No, no, we have this great part for you,'” he explained. ER the actress said. “I called her back and said, 'Listen, we get it. We'll get you on the show.' She says, 'Oh no, I want to be a corpse.'”
Of course, the late-night host was also one of those people who just wanted to play dead.
“I wanted to be a corpse. During the 2007-2008 writers' strike I met all of these Law and order writers, and I was like, 'I want to do a cameo, but I just want to be a corpse,'” Meyers recalled. “And they were like, 'Oh my God, we'd love to have you on the show.' But I thought, 'OK, but I'm a dead person.'”
Although he was eventually offered a role, he turned it down because “he was like, 'I don't want any jokes, I just want to be a dead person in the park.'”
Elsewhere in the late-night appearance, Hargitay shared that there's one thing she really wanted to do on an episode of the Dick Wolf show, but the writers won't let her: get drunk.
“I don't know who to call to get a drunken gig because I'm so good at it, and I'm begging, Please” she said. “I mean, I'm America's sweetheart, I thought. I beg them to write me a drunken scene. They won't.
Instead, she joked that she has to go to bars and not drink but pretend to be drunk, hoping that there will be a producer there who will choose her for a role in which she can play a drunk person.
Law and Orders: SVU Season 26 premieres tonight on NBC and will air subsequent episodes on Thursdays, leaving the next day on Peacock.
