MGM+ Orders Drama Series 'Robin Hood' From Lionsgate

MGM+ has ordered a new Robin Hood The series will be hosted by John Glenn and directed and produced by Jonathan English.

Lionsgate Television’s reimagined series about the classic outlaw hero will also be executive produced by Hidden Pictures’ Todd Liebermann. Robin Hood Production is set to begin in Serbia at PFI Studios in early 2025, before debuting on MGM+ later next year.

Glenn and English also serve as writers and executive producers, while Carly Kleinbart and Nicole Bryant will oversee the series for Hidden Pictures. The MGM+ series is also expected to feature a love story between Robin Hood and Marian.

“This is a smart, sweeping and romantic adventure that brings historical authenticity, psychological depth and a close focus on Rob and Marian's relationship to the beloved story. After the Norman invasion of England, Rob, the son of a Saxon forester, and Marian, the daughter of a Norman lord, fall in love and work together to fight for justice and freedom. As Rob emerges as the leader of a band of rebellious outlaws, Marian infiltrates the power at court, as they work together to counter royal corruption and bring peace to the land,” the series' producers say in a synopsis.

robin Hood will also be available to MGM+ viewers in the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Latin America, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

“John and Jonathan bring an epic scale and deeply resonant storytelling to this new interpretation of Robin Hood. We are thrilled to partner with MGM+ and Todd to bring the legendary tale of Robin Hood to modern audiences,” added Jocelyn Sabo, senior vice president of scripted television development at Lionsgate, in a statement.

Glenn is repped by CAA and Entertainment 360, while English and Hidden Pictures are also repped by CAA.
