Nate Bargatze thinks Kenan Thompson was on SNL for 50 years in Promo

Nate Bargatze is confused by Kenan Thompson's age and Saturday night liveThe milestone of the fiftieth season in a new promo for the next episode.

The comedian will host the second show of Season 50 of the NBC sketch comedy show following Jean Smart's show last weekend. Bargatze will be joined by musical guest Coldplay.

“Hi, I'm Nate Bargatze and I'm the host SNL this week with musical guest Coldplay,” he says, as Thompson adds, “Season 50, let's go!”

That's when the Bargatze asks the longtime cast member, “So Kenan, you've been on the show for a whole 50 years. It's fantastic! How does it feel?”

A confused Thompson tries to clarify that he wasn't there SNL long enough, but the next host chimes in: “I mean, you probably had to be 10 when you started? Dude, you look amazing for your age.

“Do you think I'm 60?” asks Thompson, who is actually 46 years old.

Subsequently, the SNL the cast member says, “This is what I love SNLpeople from all over the world coming together to put on a show. Bargatze says he's from America, while Coldplay frontman Chris Martin adds, “We're not from America,” as they're a British band.

But when Bargatze asks Thompson where he's from, he quips, “Oh, I'm from right behind the door right over there. Yes, I was born and raised… all my life… right here, [studio] 8H.” While Thompson was not present SNL for 50 years, he is the longest-serving cast member in the show's history after joining in 2003.

SNL airs Saturdays at 11:30pm ET/8:30pm PT on NBC and streams live on Peacock. This weekend marks Bargatze's return to Studio 8H after making his hosting debut in October last year, with musical guests the Foo Fighters.
