The new season of the Netflix reality show will arrive on October 2 Love is blind. The seventh go-around for the main franchise – the brand has now expanded into several country-specific releases – will see a new group of singles head into the pods, hoping to find love and marry their match, all in a compressed timeline worryingly. The show, which is still billed as a “social experiment,” has suffered some terrible public relations in recent seasons and has been the subject of numerous media complaints. However, Love is blind it still remains immensely popular and a magnet for discussion on social media, and the new season is sure to dominate the conversation this month.
On October 3, Netflix's critically acclaimed British queer comedy-drama Heartstopper returns for a third season. The new season sees Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) deepen their unlikely friendship into romance, even as Charlie deals with some mental health issues. The big news for the third season is this Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey makes a guest appearance as Jack Maddox, the celebrity Charlie has a crush on. Heartstopper is an adaptation of Alice Oseman's graphic novels about a couple of teenagers who fall in love at school, and quickly became a word-of-mouth hit for the streamer when it premiered in April 2022.
Netflix continues its foray into the world of sports with the launch of its highly anticipated NBA docuseries Starting from 5 on October 9, a few weeks before the start of the new season. Set during the 2023-24 NBA season, the series follows current stars Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis and Jayson Tatum and offers a behind-the-scenes look at their professional lives. Starting from 5 comes from James and Maverick Carter's Uninterrupted, Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions and Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground Productions.
For fans of action films, a possible gem The shadow wanders will be released on Netflix on October 17th. Directed by Timo Tjahjanto, the Indonesian film tells the story of Codename 13, a young assassin who finds himself suspended after a mission gone wrong. The film comes from the director behind Netflix The Big 4 (2022) May the devil get you (2018) e The night comes for us (2018) as well as the Shudder version May the devil take you too (2020). Already highly regarded among fans of the genre, Tjahjanto is ready for bigger things and is behind the upcoming sequel to the action film directed by Bob Odenkirk Nobody.
Tyler Perry, the prolific writer, director and producer, debuts his first drama series for Netflix, Tyler Perry's Beauty in Blackthis month. The series, according to the streamer, follows two women who lead very different lives – one struggling to make a living after being kicked out by her mother, the other running a successful business – and find themselves trapped in the worlds of other. The 16 one-hour episodes of Beauty in black will be released in two parts, with the first eight episodes releasing on October 24. A release date for the second part has not yet been announced.
At the end of the month, Netflix will release the second season of its popular political thriller The diplomat. Led by Keri Russell, the show is a dramatic and tension-filled examination of the “special relationship” between the US and the UK and features espionage and political intrigue galore. Launching October 31st The diplomat the cast also includes Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear and Ato Essandoh and the second season will see the addition of Allison Janney.
