Nicole Kidman thanks fans and friends for their support as she continues to deal with the death of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman.
“My sister, I and our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have received this week,” the actress wrote on Instagram in a statement shared with her younger sister, Antonia.
“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express,” the post continued. “Thank you from our entire family for respecting our privacy as we care for each other.” Perfect couple The star paired her message with rare family photos.
Some of Kidman's friends expressed their condolences in the comments. “My deepest condolences to you and the family. I was lucky to be in her presence. Rest in peace,” wrote Lenny Kravitz. Natalie Portman also commented, writing, “So sorry for your loss Nic. Sending you so much love.” Naomi Watts added, “Sending you both so much love. So sorry for your loss. Your wonderfully vivacious mum will be missed by so many. I hope she is now safely reunited with your dad xxx love you.”
News of Kidman's mother's death was revealed when the actress won an award for her work in Girl at the Venice Film Festival last Saturday. Director Halina Reijn accepted the award on Kidman's behalf and read a statement from the star explaining what had happened.
“I am in shock and need to go to my family, but this award is for her,” Kidman wrote via Reijn. “I am beyond grateful to be able to say her name to all of you. The collision of life and art is heartbreaking and my heart is broken.”
