Nominations at the European Film Awards 2024: “La Sostanza”, “Emilia Pérez”

The substance by Coralie Fargeat, Emilia Perez by Jacques Audiard, The room next door by Pedro Almodóvar, e The seed of the sacred fig tree by Mohammad Rasoulof are among the nominees for the 2024 European Film Awards (EFA), the organizers announced on Tuesday.

Emilia Perez AND The room next door earned four nominations each, including Best European Film and Best Director. Holy fig is up for awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenwriter. The substance is in the running for best film and best screenwriter.

In the competition for best actress, Emilia Perez star Karla Sofía Gascón faces Renate Reinsve and Tilda Swinton for her role in The room next doorand Girl with the Needle actresses Trine Dyrholm and Vic Carmen Sonne.

Queer star Daniel Craig and Conclave star Ralph Fiennes competes for the best European actor award with Franz Rogowski (Bird), Lars Eidinger (Dying) and Abou Sangare (Soulemayne's story).

The winners of the 2024 European Film Awards will be revealed in Lucerne, Switzerland on 7 December.

The Italian actress Isabella Rossellini (Conclave, Blue velvet) will receive the European Achievement in World Cinema award during the ceremony, a lifetime achievement honour.
