Hilarie Burton Morgan Teases Attention A tree hill sequel and how working with a female-led team was a better experience for her than the original series.
The actress recently opened up to People review of the upcoming Netflix series, which will also feature Sophia Bush.
“What I can say is that this time, being able to work with a team of women and look at these stories [and] “These characters through a female lens is something that — whether I was doing a reboot or a whole new show or a different movie at this stage in my life, female teamwork is something that’s so vital to me,” Burton Morgan said.
“It’s the core of everything I’ve done that’s been successful,” she added of the sequel. “So I’m thrilled to be able to team up with people I admire, people I love deeply.”
Burton Morgan, who played Peyton Sawyer for six seasons on the hit teen drama, which ran from 2003 to 2012, said he wants the reboot to include stories set in this current “phase” of his life, which “are very different than when I was in my 20s.”
The Netflix sequel series was announced last month, seven years after Burton Morgan and Bush were between A tree hill cast and crew members who accused show creator Mark Schwahn of sexual harassment. Schwahn has never publicly addressed the allegations, but he was removed from his role as showrunner of E! The Royals in 2017.
Burton Morgan and Bush will also executive produce the reboot, alongside former co-star Danneel Ackles.
