Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is seeking medical attention following an onstage confrontation with guitarist Dave Navarro, prompting the band to cancel all remaining dates on their North American tour.
His wife, Etty Lau Farrell, revealed the update in an Instagram post on Saturday.
“We are taking some time for ourselves, to reflect and heal,” she wrote. “Perry is already on dates with [an] otolaryngologist [an ear, nose and throat specialist] and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know I don't need to address the other false narratives. Our souls know that.”
Etty Lau added that she and her husband appreciate all the “words of love and support.” She said she and Perry were “just as shocked as you are by Perry's physical outburst,” but explained that he had been “pushed to his absolute limit” and “for that we apologize.”
In videos released during the rock band's September 13 show in Boston, Farrell can be seen confronting Navarro, yelling “fuck you” at the guitarist and then throwing a punch as the band plays “Ocean Size.”
On September 16, the band released a statement saying they were canceling the remainder of their North American tour dates. The group had reunited to tour together for the first time in 14 years.
“To all the fans, the band has [sic] have made the difficult decision to take some time off as a group. As a result, they will be canceling the remainder of their tour,” the statement posted on social media read.
For her part, Etty Lau also shared some words of hope in her social media post.
“With all your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere. She will recover. She will be happy again. She will be able to share her music, her vision and her art again, without restraints,” he wrote.

We are beyond grateful and humbled, to all the loved ones who have taken the time to send us such beautiful words of love and support, checking in over and over again to make sure we are being taken care of. Offering love and compassion, words of kindness, and even your homes to escape to…
Like attracts like. Kindness attracts kindness. As you know, Perry is the kindest soul. We are as shocked by Perry's physical outburst as you are, but you should know that Perry must have been pushed to the absolute limit…for that we apologize.
We are taking some time for ourselves, to reflect and heal. Perry already has appointments with an ENT and a neurologist. If you know and love Perry well, you know I don't need to address the other false narratives. Our souls know that.
With all your love, kindness, compassion and support, you know, Perry will persevere. He will recover. He will be happy again. He will be able to share his music, his vision and his art again, without restraints.
There is no doubt about it: when he is ready, he will make another giant leap over the obstacles to make us laugh and think, changing the world together.
Then we can rejoice together. And you will know that we could not have done it without you.
