“Ready or Not 2” in the works with Samara Weaving and Radio Silence

Samara Weaving and Radio Silence walk down the aisle once again.

The actress and the directing collective of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villella come together to make Ready or not 2the sequel to their hit 2019 horror comedy, for Searchlight Pictures.

Written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy, the film follows a bride, played by Weaving, who learns of her new family's wedding night ritual: drawing a card from a puzzle card game. During the game, if someone draws the Hide and Seek card, as she does, a murderous game is played, all to appease an ancient family pact with the devil.

The cast included Adam Brody, Henry Czerny and Andie MacDowell.

Ready or NotMade for just $6 million, it grossed over $28 million domestically and was Searchlight's largest release at the time. It earned strong critical reviews who praised its ability to provide suspense and kills while also making social commentary. Its reputation and profitability continue to grow in the home entertainment market.

Tripp Vinson, Bradley J. Fischer, William Sherak and James Vanderbilt will return as producers. Villella and Tara Farney will serve as executive producers.

No shooting or plot details were provided, but Busick and Murphy will also return to write.

News of the sequel comes the same evening that Searchlight held a screening of the film at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. Weaving and Radio Silence were expected to be on hand for a post-screening Q&A session

Vice President of Production Richard Ruiz and Creative Director Cornelia Burleigh will oversee the project for Searchlight, reporting to co-heads of production and development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.

Ready or Not it also pushed the careers of Weaving and the filmmakers to new professional heights. Radio Silence entered the studio's horror engine, revitalizing the Cry franchising with 2022 Cry and 2023 Scream VI. They also faced vampire dancers Abigailreleased by Universal earlier this year.

Weaving has appeared in recent films such as Bill and Ted face the music, Searchlight' images Knight and Damien Chazelle's ode to early Hollywood Babylon.

Weaving is represented by CAA and 111 Media. Radio Silence is represented by UTA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
