Match 2 or more squares of the same color. The larger matches will create a chess piece that can be triggered to try to capture the enemy king. The triggered chess piece can destroy your own king, so it is important to be careful.
You will need to choose an upgrade/downgrade after defeating the enemy king or objective. The game will get harder as you progress, so choose carefully.
