Dog reservation co-creator and showrunner Sterlin Harjo has his next series on FX.
The Disney-owned channel has placed an order for a drama series starring Ethan Hawke (who guest starred in the final season of Dog reservation). The untitled series, formerly known as The sensitive typeis set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and is said to have a film noir feel centering on the character of Hawke, a “guy who knows too much”. Other details remain hidden for now.

The withdrawal comes soon after Dog reservationThe latest season earned a nomination for best comedy series at the Emmy Awards in September, one of four honors for the show this year. FX ordered a pilot for the new show in February; Along with Hawke, the cast includes Keith David, Siena East, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Tim Blake Nelson, Scott Shepherd, Tracy Letts, Kyle Maclachlan, Macon Blair, Killer Mike, Kaniehtiio Horne (who had a memorable recurring role as Deer Lady in Rez Dogs), Cody Lightning, Michael Hitchcock and Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
FX Productions, with whom Harjo has an overall deal, is producing the series. Harjo wrote and directed the pilot and will executive produce alongside Hawke and Garrett Basch.
The Harjo-Hawke drama is the second series ordered for FX in the past two days. The network ordered on Monday Beauty from creators Ryan Murphy and Matthew Hodgson, based on a graphic novel of the same name.
The series order also caps a big day for Harjo, who on Tuesday was named one of the MacArthur Foundation Fellows for 2024. He is repped by CAA, Circle of Confusion and Del Shaw. Hawke is with CAA, MGMT Entertainment and attorney George Sheanshang.
