Sabrina Carpenter can add to her list of summer successes the fact that she became Redken’s first hair care ambassador.
The pop star, who became famous for her long blonde hair, is expected to appear in ads for the L'Oréal-owned brand, starting with one for Redken's Acidic Bonding Concentrate collection, due out later this month.
“Beauty and specifically my hair is a huge part of who I am,” Carpenter said in a statement. “I've always dreamed of collaborating with a hair brand and have been waiting to find the right partner. It's been the secret to keeping my hair looking its best and I can't wait to share what we've worked on together.”
Carpenter’s longtime hair stylist Scott King and colorist Laurie Heaps have joined Redken’s team of professional talent. Her stylists say the singer’s coveted mane and bangs can be attributed to the hair care brand, according to a release.
Redken president Severine Breton added in the release, “Of course, we can't talk about Sabrina without mentioning her iconic hair. From social media to the streets of New York and everywhere in between, everyone is obsessed with her bangs, her blonde, and her blow-dry. This is our biggest partnership to date and we couldn't be more thrilled. Sabrina's unapologetic attitude, endless ambition, and magnetic energy align perfectly with our brand's core values.”
Last week saw the release of the 25-year-old singer's latest release, Short and sweetdebuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, a first for Carpenter. Carpenter's latest single “Taste” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with its pre-release singles “Please Please Please” and “Espresso” peaking at No. 3 and No. 4.
All 12 tracks entered the chart, ranging from No. 2 to No. 41. She joined Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande as the only women to have at least three songs in the top five of the chart at the same time, according to Billboard.
Carpenter will also perform this week at the MTV VMAs, which were postponed from Sept. 11, instead of Sept. 10, because of the presidential debate that night.
The pop star’s sold-out Short N’ Sweet Tour kicks off this fall in Columbus, Ohio. Los Angeles will be the final stop on the North American tour, with a show at Crypto.com Arena on November 15 and two shows at the Kia Forum on November 17 and 18. Redken has joined as an official tour partner.
