Sally Field Returns to Social Media After Kamala Harris' Presidential Candidacy

Sally Field is back on social media thanks to Kamala Harris’ presidential candidacy.

The Oscar-winning actress posted two separate posts on her Instagram, announcing that she has returned to the platform after Harris ran for president alongside Tim Walz as her running mate.

“I haven't been on social media. Since it became public toilet paper for our former con man president. But 'hope is coming back.' So here I am,” she wrote Thursday as the caption for a carousel of her with her dog, Dash.

On Friday, she posted a second photo of herself in front of a TV showing the Democratic National Convention. “Hope is here. Right in the room with me and my 18-year-old nephew who just registered to vote,” she wrote. “I'm screaming from the top of the tallest mountain I can find.”

Field implored people to vote for their country, their children, their grandchildren, the land, women and human rights, and democracy. “Vote for @kamalaharris and @timwalz,” she concluded. “Please, dear God. (And I'll be your best friend.)”

It's not the first time that Steel Magnolias star has spoken out against Donald Trump. After the 2016 election, she stopped by Chelsea Handler's Netflix show and attacked the former president for his hypocrisy and lack of experience.

“If you look at his background, if you look at his history, there is no evidence that he can do a single thing that he says he will do,” Field said at the time. “He has proven to be everything that he accuses and accused Hillary Clinton of being. It is now clear that he is all of those things, every single thing that he has accused her of.”

Field was nominated for three Oscars for her work in the 1979 film Norma Rae, 1984s Places in the heart and 2012 Lincoln. She won Best Actress for the first two films.
