Shonda Rhimes will join Debbie Allen along with other cast members Grey's Anatomy AND Private practice Sunday in a Get Out The Vote trivia event, presented in partnership with the political advocacy group MoveOn.
The live-streamed contest will be free to the public, although organizers are asking participants to remind three of their loved ones to vote before signing up.
In addition to Rhimes and Allen, Florida Rep. Maxwell Frost will attend the event, along with Shondaland actors Kate Walsh, Amy Brenneman, Jessica Capshaw, Midori Francis, Jason George, Anthony Hill, Chris, Lowell, James Pickens Jr., Harry Shum Jr. and KaDee Strickland.
The group will be divided into two teams, which will compete Grey's Anatomy AND Private practice trivial questions, giving away prizes and encouraging all attendees to vote and volunteer for Kamala Harris and the Democratic ticket.
“There are only four days left until the polls close and we must leave everything on the field and leave no stone unturned to elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and progressives up and down the ballot,” Walsh said in a press release. “On TV, we've overcome hurricanes, sinkholes, ferry crashes and more, but that hasn't stopped us, so don't let anything stop you from getting out the vote.”
George added: “We may play fake doctors on TV, but we know the stakes are very real in this election. We may only be days away from Election Day, but it's not too late to use our power and make our voices heard at the polls. After doing all our research, the answer to us was clear: we will vote for Kamala Harris and the Democrats all the way down the ballot to protect our freedoms.
MoveOn Political Action spokeswoman Britt Jacovich said her organization is spending the final days before Tuesday's election “reminding voters to use their power and elect leaders who will protect your freedoms, including abortion rights and reproductive health care.”
He continued: “Health care decisions should be between the patient and their doctor, not dictated by Donald Trump and right-wing extremists.”
The trivia contest will take place Sunday at 5pm PT. Participants can sign up at MoveOn.org/CodeBlue.
