The first teaser trailer for the second season of Squid Game proves that the game never stops, even when you think it's over.
Netflix unveiled the new footage at an in-person fan event in Atlanta on Thursday, wrapping up its Geeked Week of announcements focused on genre programming. It was previously announced that the streamer’s biggest series ever would return on Dec. 26, more than three years after the first installment became a global sensation in 2021.
In the teaser, a new match is about to begin, however, a nervous Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) finds himself back in the game as Player 456, wearing the green suit.
“We are ready to start the game,” a voice says in Korean. Watch the teaser below.
In addition to Lee, returning cast members for the second season of the Emmy-winning series include Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun and Gong Yoo. They are joined by Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae- won, Jo Yu-ri and Won Ji-an.
Earlier this year, Netflix announced that Squid Game will conclude with a third and final season, scheduled for release in 2025.
“Seong Gi-hun, who swore revenge at the end of the first season, returns and joins the game again,” Squid Game Executive producer, writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk previously spoke about the show's finale. “Will he get his revenge? Front Man doesn't seem to be an easy opponent this time either. The fierce clash between their two worlds will continue in the series finale of season three, which will premiere next year.”
