She could have exploded onto the world stage with a small-screen role in the Netflix hit Squid GameBut South Korean star Hoyeon looked like a true movie star when she made her red carpet debut at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday.
Hoyeon, a big star in her home country who started out as a model before transitioning into acting, chose a striking look by Louis Vuitton. The red bias-cut embroidered silk gown featured a draped neckline and was paired with accessories from Louis Vuitton’s high jewelry collection, including Galaxie Monogram earrings and two L’Elan Vital rings. The ensemble may not have come as a surprise to those who have followed her fashion career closely, given that she is an ambassador for Louis Vuitton.
Hoyeon’s appearance at the Lido this year is for a starring role in Alfonso Cuáron’s upcoming limited series Disclaimer for Apple TV+. The series stars Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, and Hoyeon spent some time on the red carpet posing arm in arm with the Oscar-winning actress. When she arrived, Gen Z festival-goers who had lined the red carpet barricades erupted in applause as she came out to join Blanchett for the cameras. After the screening, which included the first four episodes of the series, the audience inside the theater also erupted in a lengthy standing ovation.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Before the Emmy Awards two years ago, Hoyeon spoke about her love for Louis Vuitton. “I knew [Louis Vuitton creative director] Nicolas Ghesquière very well since I was a model, and I really admired his designs because I thought they were a great combination of modernity and antiquity, in a way,” she explained. “I also admire the fact that he draws so much inspiration from art and pays so much attention to the structure of his outfits. I really wanted to work with Louis Vuitton because of his distinctive design philosophy. And just because, I mean, it’s Louis Vuitton!”
