Streaming Ratings from July 29th to August 4th 2024

The Olympics brought strong streaming numbers for Peacock during the first full week of the games. For other streamers? Not so much.

No original series or films cracked the top 10 overall titles in Nielsen’s streaming rankings for the week of July 29-Aug. 4. That’s a first in the four-year history of the weekly rankings, according to the ratings service. Streaming levels outside of the Olympics “dipped significantly” during the week, Nielsen says.

House of the DragonHowever, it continued to have strong reviews on Max (because the series also airs on HBO, Nielsen considers it an acquired series rather than an original). Game of Thrones prequel hit a high point in the week before the season two finale with 1.31 billion minutes watched, up from 1.04 billion the week before and its best showing of the season so far.

(Nielsen also adjusted viewing totals for HotD slightly down for the weeks of July 1-7 and July 8-14 due to what was called a “crediting issue.” Totals for those weeks have been updated.)

Bluish (1.17 billion minutes) was the only other title to surpass the billion-minute mark for the week. Netflix's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (553 million minutes) was the biggest new original series. Futurama ($320 million) returned to the charts with the premiere of a new season on Hulu.

Two classics from the mid-2000s also made their debut on the charts after landing on Netflix: Evasion (758 million minutes) and Lost (678 million) ranked among the top 10 acquired programs (both also available for streaming on Hulu).

Nielsen streaming ratings are for TV viewing only and do not include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. Ratings measure U.S. viewers only, not viewers in other countries. The most popular streaming titles from July 29 to August 4, 2024 are listed below.
