Taylor Swift is putting a fraction of her $1 billion net worth into hurricane relief.
The singer-songwriter has donated $5 million to Feeding America for relief efforts after Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the organization announced.
“We are incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift,” said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America, in a statement posted on the organization's social media. “This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover by providing essential food, clean water and supplies to those affected by these devastating storms.”
He concluded: “Together, we can have a real impact in supporting families as they face the challenges of the future. Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and helping communities in need.”
Swift has donated to causes in the past. Earlier this year, he donated $100,000 to the family of Lisa Lopez-Galvan, the DJ and mother of two who was killed in the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade mass shooting. In March 2020, he donated $1 million to tornado relief efforts in Middle Tennessee.
During her record-breaking Eras Tour, the Grammy-winning artist donated money to food banks in cities where her concerts took place, such as the Arizona Food Bank Network. And his generosity goes beyond those efforts and extends to the tour crew. The sources said so People Last year, Swift gave bonuses totaling more than $55 million to everyone who worked on her show.
Dolly Parton is among other celebrities to donate to hurricane relief efforts. Last week, in the wake of Hurricane Helene, the country icon shared that he would donate $1 million to victims of the devastating storm. In addition to his personal donation, he also announced that through his businesses – Dollywood Parks & Resorts, Dolly Parton's Stampede and Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show and the Dollywood Foundation – another $1 million would be matched and donated to the nonprofit Mountain Ways Foundation.
