Teamsters Casting Directors Stall Without Deal

Negotiations for a new contract for casting directors represented by the Teamsters stalled Friday without an agreement, the union announced.

Negotiations for about 700 casting workers based in Los Angeles and New York were initially expected to conclude by the end of the week, but the union said additional bargaining sessions would be scheduled before the current contract expires on Sept. 30.

“After a week of negotiations, we have concluded negotiations for today without an agreement. It is clear that the AMPTP will need additional time to respect and fairly compensate casting professionals in Los Angeles and New York,” Teamsters Local 399 said Friday. “While today was our last scheduled date for negotiations, our Local 399 and 817 agreement will not expire until September 30. We will now seek to schedule additional dates to continue to address the top priorities of our casting directors, associate casting directors and casting assistants to move closer to an agreement that can be recommended by our member-led committees for ratification.”

The Hollywood Reporter contacted AMPTP for comment.

More will come.
