Amazon Prime Video has released the first trailer for the Australian adaptation of Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's classic comedy series The officeand finally we get a closer look at the Australian variants of Brent, Tim, Dawn, Gareth and more.
With NBC's follow-up to the US adaptation of The office still in development, in the meantime fans of the franchise around the world will be able to settle for an Australian attempt at mockumentary-style comedy.
There's just one (big) problem, though: The office Australia will be available on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories worldwide from October 18, except for the United States. However, it's nothing a VPN can't fix, if you're serious about it.
In the clip released Wednesday, we see Hannah Howard (Felicity Ward), CEO of Sydney-based packaging company Flinley Craddick, trying, unsuccessfully, to win over her employees with her natural charisma, “girlboss” vibes and visionary leadership.
Also trapped in Flinley Craddick with Hannah are receptionist, front desk manager and productivity manager Lizze (Edith Poor as Dwight/Gareth); sales representative Nick (Steen Raskopoulos as Tim/Jim); and Greta (Shari Sebbens as Pam/Dawn).
The cast also includes Josh Thomson, Jonny Brugh, Susan Ling Young, Raj Labade, Lucy Schmidt, Zoe Terakes, Pallavi Sharda, Claude Jabbour and Jason Perini. Guest stars for the eight-episode season include Susie Youssef, Justin Rosniiak, Carlo Ritchie, Rick Donald and Chris Bunton.
The office It was developed for Australia by writers Julie De Fina (Aftertaste) and Jackie van Beek (The Breaker Upperers, Naked Tuesday) with the pair also serving as executive producers. Kylie Washington (Return to Paradise) is executive producer with lead producer Sophia Zachariou (Ladies in Black, The moth effect) and producer Linda Micsko (The disappointment, Laid down).
The office is co-produced by BBC Studios Australia & New Zealand, Bunya Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, and is based on a BBC Studios format.
Outside the known United States The officeThere have been several international adaptations of the show since the original British version aired its final episode in December 2003.
