Apple TV+ Won't Reset Clock Time Bandits.
The tech giant's streaming service has canceled the series, an adaptation of a 1981 Terry Gilliam film, after just one season. The news comes less than four weeks after Time Bandits completed its first season of 10 episodes on August 21.
As with most streaming series, viewing figures for Time Bandits are not available to the public. The show did not crack Nielsen's top 10 original streaming series in its first four weeks of airing (Apple TV+ released two episodes per week). Critics were largely positive about the show; Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter wrote that in the second half of the season in particular, Time Bandits it's “actively funny and intelligent and just a little emotional.”
Like the film, the series follows a young history buff (Kal-El Tuck) who is recruited to join a band of thieves who travel through time and steal valuable objects. Lisa Kudrow plays the group’s leader; Charlyne Yi, Tadhg Murphy, Rune Temte, and Roger Jean Nsengiyumva also star.
The now-defunct Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content and MRC Television produced the show. Taika Waititi and co-showrunners Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris created Time Banditsbased on the characters created by Gilliam and Michael Palin, and executive produced with Garrett Basch, Tim Coddington and Jane Stanton of Handmade Films, who produced the film.
