Tom Holland read the script for “Spider-Man 4” with Zendaya

Tom Holland is thrilled Spider-Man 4revealing that he read a draft of the script a few weeks ago with co-star and girlfriend Zendaya.

However, he recently shared on Content-rich podcast that “it needs work, but the writers are doing a great job.”

Last month, The Hollywood journalist exclusively reported that Destin Daniel Cretton was in talks to direct the fourth installment of the superhero franchise, taking over from director Jon Watts.

“One of the things to keep in mind with Marvel is that your movie is a small cog in a big machine,” Holland explained of the film's development process. Spider-Man 4. “And that machine has to keep running. And you need to make sure you can get back into that timeline at the right time to benefit from the bigger picture. This is one of the challenges we face. The moment we have to make this happen is a tall order but definitely achievable with the great people we are working on it with now.”

The crowded room The star added that the film's team already has “a creative, a presentation and an outline, which is excellent.”

“It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job,” he continued. “I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire inside me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and sometimes we would skip around the living room saying, “This is a real movie worthy of the fans' respect.” But there are some things we need to understand before we can really move forward, but it's exciting.

Holland played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in three standalone films, alongside Zendaya's MJ: 2017 Spider-Man: Homecoming2019 Spider-Man: Far From Home and 2021 Spider-Man: No Way Home. He has also appeared in many other Marvel films, such as those in 2019 Avengers: Endgame and 2018 Avengers: Infinity War.

Last year, the actor admitted Collider that he was open to reprising his role as a superhero, but only if the plot does “the character justice”.

“I feel very protective of Spider-Man,” he added at the time. “I feel very, very fortunate to have been able to work on a franchise that has gotten better with each film, that has been more successful with each film, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect its legacy. So I'm not going to make another one just for the sake of making another one. The character will have to be worth exploiting.”
