Trailer for “Larger Than Life” featuring NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Date

NSYNC isn't saying “Bye, bye, bye” this time.

Key boy band members open up in Paramount+ documentary Larger than Life: Reign of the Boybands, which will premiere on November 12th.

The documentary, by director Tamra Davis (Crossroads, Billy Madison), highlights boy bands and their rise – and fall – to fame, from the Beatles to the Jackson 5, the Jonas Brothers and One Direction, as well as the K-pop group Seventeen. Larger than life will show the perspective of what it was like to be a member of a boy band in their prime.

The trailer opens with Donnie Wahlberg of New Kids on the Block saying, “I love boy bands. I'm proud to be part of a boy band.”

Larger than life also includes commentary from Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean, NSYNC's Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick, and 98 Degrees' Nick Lachey, all of whom reflect on their impact and experience of being in the group. Acclaimed music manager Johnny Wright, who has managed Menudo, Britney Spears, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake, will also share his insights.

Lachey admits that 98 Degrees “noticed” where they were in the countdown TRL everyday. He also mentions the difficulties they faced by saying, “When you're in a boy band, you go through really, really hard times.”

The documentary is also an ode to the loyal fans who follow boy bands. “One Direction fans are like the CIA,” one fan of the group says in the trailer. “We were keeping an eye on them.”

McLean acknowledged how crucial boy band fans are to their careers: “We wouldn't be who we are without the fans.”

Larger than life is produced by Wright and Van Toffler for Gunpowder & Sky. Barry Barclay, Floris Bauer and Joanna Zwickel for Gunpowder & Sky and Bruce Gillmer, Vanessa WhiteWolf and Michael Maniaci for MTV Entertainment Studios serve as executive producers.
