Halsey returned to the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday night with a performance of her new song “Ego.”
After riding her bike up to a house on stage, the singer pulled up a garage door to reveal her band waiting inside. Halsey quickly grabbed her guitar and started rocking out in the garage, performing the single from her upcoming album, The great imitator.
Halsey’s return to the VMA stage comes years after her last performance at the awards show in 2016, when she teamed up with The Chainsmokers for their collaboration “Closer.” The “Bad At Love” singer has also previously been nominated for seven VMAs.
Earlier this year, the “Without Me” artist announced that she would be releasing her fifth studio album, The great imitatorOctober 25. It marks his first album since 2021 If I can't have love, I want powerSo far, Halsey has already released a handful of singles from the album, including “The End,” “Lucky” (which interpolates Britney Spears' 2000 hit of the same name), “Lonely Is the Muse,” and “Ego.”
“I made this record in the space between life and death,” Halsey previously wrote on social media about the album. “And it feels like I've been waiting forever for you to have it. I'll wait a little longer. I've been waiting a decade, already.”
