Los Angeles is a killer real estate market, perhaps literally, in the case of Netflix's upcoming series No good deeds.
The streamer has released a first teaser of the dark comedy Dead to me creator Liz Feldman. The show, which premieres on December 12, follows Lydia and Paul (Lisa Kudrow and Ray Romano), who are now empty nesters and decide to start over by listing their gorgeous century-old home in one of Los Angeles' most desirable neighborhoods .
Cue the frenzy, as “multiple families all race to buy what they believe to be their dream home, convinced it will solve all their very different problems,” reads the show's description. “But as Lydia and Paul know all too well, sometimes your dream home can be an absolute nightmare. As they struggle to hide the dark and dangerous secrets that linger in their longtime home, Paul and Lydia begin to realize that the only way to escape the past is to finally face it.
The teaser (watch it below) doesn't suggest much what these “dark and dangerous secrets” are, but there are brief shots of people peering out windows or through a hole in the wall, a gun, and someone's hand being put in dangerous proximity to a table saw – and Lydia and Paul watching over their potential buyers from a locked room. Poppy Liu's character notices that the house is “a little darker than I expected… like a dark atmosphere.”
THE No good deeds the cast also includes Linda Cardellini, OT Fagbenle, Abbi Jacobson, Denis Leary, Teyonah Parris and Luke Wilson in regular roles, along with guest stars Matt Rogers, Kate Moennig, Chloe East, Rory Scovel, Wyatt Aubrey, Kevin Alves and Linda Lavin, with Anna Maria Horsford.
Netflix gave the show a series order in 2022, with Feldman saying so at the time No good deeds was inspired by her “manic searching on Zillow” during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic: “I am endlessly grateful to Netflix for being such a supportive creative home and for continuing to allow me to turn my crippling anxiety into entertainment” .
Feldman serves as executive producer alongside Silver Tree, who directed six of the eight episodes (Feldman directed the other two), and Christie Smith, Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell of Gloria Sanchez Productions. Feldman, Madie Dhaliwal, Cara DiPaolo, Crystal Jenkins, Kelly Hutchinson, Bruce Eric Kaplan and Zora Bikangaga are credited writers.
