Wendell Pierce jokes that he “better be asked” for a cameo in the Suits spinoff

Wendell Pierce is set to return as Robert Zane in the film Clothes spin off.

The actor recently shared on SiriusXM In the spotlight with Jessica Shaw that he would be interested in reprising his role for the next one Dresses: LAfollowing the unexpected streaming resurgence of the original show.

“I think it's the most fascinating thing that all of a sudden our show came to Netflix and exploded,” Pierce said before recalling when he first learned about the Clothes push in 2023. “We got a message, a chain of messages, from Gabriel Macht, who is the protagonist, and he just sent this message to everyone saying, 'WTF.' We were all like, 'What?'”

After Clothes Premiering on Netflix last year, the show, which initially aired from 2011 to 2019, topped streaming charts in the summer and fall. It also became the most streamed show over the course of a year. The show also airs on Peacock.

With regard to Dresses: LA, The thread the actor said he hopes there are opportunities for cameos, especially given the lack of compensation received by original actors in the streaming revival. The show's stars were among those who expressed frustration over streaming pay during last year's actors' strike.

“There's something new Clothes in production right now, so I'm sure we'll get some cameos,” Pierce said before joking, “They better ask me to do a cameo on the show because we went on strike because we didn't get anything out of that revival.”

Pierce added seriously, “I would love to do a cameo on the show.”

Pierce played Rachel Zane's (Meghan Markle) father. Clothes. His character went from a competing law firm to teaming up with Harvey Specter (Macht) and Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman) to start a new firm. His daughter Rachel also ends up marrying Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams).

Although at this point it's unclear how Pierce's character fits into the Clothes spinoff, the show follows former prosecutor Ted Black (Stephen Amell) who moves to Los Angeles from New York City and finds himself representing the city's most powerful clients.
